These are the actions of a witness to an emergency on saving lives of the injured or reducing the harm to the health before medical treatment.
This is when someone (usually not a doctor) finds a person in a life-threatening state (after a traffic accident, sudden cardiac arrest, burn) and undertakes simple actions learned at the first-aid training.
These actions are designed to help the injured survive until arrival of an ambulance (as in the case of cardiac arrest) or to get out of the situation with the least damage (for example, burns).
Ukrainian legislation, in particular, the Law of Ukraine "On Emergency Medical Aid", prescribes that first aid shall be provided by:
The Law specifies employees who must possess first aid skills in their official duties.
It is important to note that these categories of workers should act in order to save people, while the responsibility of other citizens is only to call an ambulance, and the further provision of assistance is their right.
FAST adheres to Western standards of evidence-based medicine. First Aid is a simple, step-by-step, easy-to-understand algorithm of actions. For example, assessment of breathing, calling an ambulance, turning the injured to the side. First Aid is not provided for treatment: pills and injections are not taught now.
It depends on the program, which in turn depends on the risks of the enterprise and the role of the people we train in the production processes. As a rule, training takes from 6 to 12 astronomical hours. Some categories of employees, like security officers of top management, are trained longer.
First aid skills, like any other, need support. It is recommended to repeat the training at least once every 1-2 years.
It all depends on the training program, and the program depends on the risks of the enterprise. We select programs and offer additional options that will really solve the problems of the business.
For example, we will train employees of the metallurgical shop in giving first aid at industrial injuries (stopping blood, immobilizing fractures and neck, cooling burns, etc.), and office employees in assisting with "household" emergency situations: act when someone in the office lost consciousness, perform the Heimlich maneuver when someone choked, etc.
The program must be commensurate with the risks.
After the training, we issue FAST certificates for passing a course.
These certificates are guaranteed by our reputation, namely, by dozens of life-saving cases owing to hands of our students.
The certificates are awarded to only those students who have been trained in full.
